Information
Cody Anderson (B. 1993, Gillette, WY, USA) believes that art already exists all around us. His work is thus focused on mindfulness, observation, and documentation. Subjects range from diagrams from books, pages from the internet, worn table surfaces, mundane city views framed by windows, or bonsai trees, re-presented in the forms of drawing, painting and sculpture. His practice is often durational, tedious, or seemingly futile and absurd.
Cody completed his BFA at the University of Wyoming in 2016, and MFA at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in 2020. He currently lives and works in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.
Cody has received various awards and recognition for his work including “Best In Show,” in Rites of Passage 13th Annual Emerging Artists Exhibition at Manifest Creative Research Gallery, Cincinnati, OH. His work has been published in International Drawing Annual 12 & 13, Manifest’s international juried exhibition-in-print. He has also received academic support, including the Thieme Study Abroad scholarship, an undergraduate summer research and travel grant, and the Robert D. Coe Fine Arts Scholarship.
